Who Qualifies To Get A Bursary Or Student Loan From NSFAS?



The National Student Financial Aid Scheme (NSFAS) has officially opened the 2025 application process.

Applications are now open and can shut on 15 December 2024.

*** Who qualifies for NSFAS funding

To qualify for NSFAS funding, an applicant should fulfill the following requirements:

• Be considered a South African citizen or copyright who originates from a house by using a combined gross home earnings that doesn't exceed R350 000 for every annum.

• Persons with disabilities qualify if their combined family profits will not exceed R600 000 per annum.

• SASSA recipients immediately qualify for funding and wish not post any evidence of earnings.

*** Loan Scheme for the Missing Middle

The NSFAS Loan Scheme for the missing middle is open up to all South African citizens and permanent inhabitants from homes with combined R350 000 and R600 000 for every annum.

Applicants are reminded to deliver the right Identity Doc numbers, names, and surname, as reflected in their South African ID.

NSFAS only funds individuals who are researching or plan to research at a public university or TVET college in South Africa.

All students who wish to study in any of the public universities and TVET colleges should apply timeously and not to wait until the last day.

Learners do not my nsfas have to wait for matric results to apply for NSFAS. They should apply now and avoid delays in the processing of their application.
